The Postgraduate Program in Human Communication Healthcare has as its main objective to establish a quality course, favoring the insertion of the professionals in the scientific and research world, contributing to the construction and solidification of new human communication bases of knowledge. The Program also seeks to foment research and activities in the different areas involving human communication in its biopsychosocial and epistemological bases and with the new training policies for health and education, regarding the development, evaluation and intervention of the various aspects of human communication and its interfaces with different disciplines or areas of knowledge.

The processes of scientific training for this context must allow the approximation and deepening of general and specific knowledge, through the interdisciplinary integration, the contents and the use of active methodologies, which allows a more significant research from the context in which it is inserted. Interdisciplinarity represents a framework that allows the scientific exchange among the most diverse areas related to Human Communication Healthcare.

The Master’s Degree Program in Human Communication Healthcare at the Federal University of Pernambuco was established in 2010. Since then, this Program has been developed with the active participation of its Tenure-track Professors along with the Professors of the undergraduate course in Phonoaudiology.

The Master’s Degree Program in Human Communication Healthcare recognizes the importance of the multi and interdisciplinary team in order to increase research and scientific knowledge. In this sense, the Program contemplates in the profile of its members, intellectual skills that reflect the heterogeneity of social and scientific demands.

The mission of the Master’s Degree Program in Human Communication Healthcare at UFPE (Federal University of Pernambuco) is to train professionals sensitive to the aspects involved with the health of human communication, being able to carry out research aimed at the promotion of health, evaluation and diagnosis of disorders, as well as their habilitation and rehabilitation.

The existence of a Master’s degree program in Human Communication Healthcare at UFPE is a milestone both in terms of opportunities for academic training, with professional insertion in the research area, and in terms of increasing scientific knowledge, with the opportunity for development and innovation of scientific methods, based on the reality in which it is inserted and the proposed interdisciplinarity.
