This line of research focuses on studies and research in Philosophy and History of Education. It investigates ways of conceptualizing education, its processes, and categories, as manifested in the production and writing of thought. It examines the historicity and historiography of educational practices in general, the production and circulation of educational thought, schooling, school subjects, and educational processes and policies in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.

The group conducts research on the following themes: Learners' representations of knowledge related to the Portuguese language; Teacher’s representations and practices concerning teaching and assessment across various teaching axes of the Portuguese language/literature curriculum; The effects of different didactic strategies on learning Portuguese language/literature; Initial and continuing education of Portuguese language/literature teachers; Literacy and literacy practices; Curriculum proposals, textbooks, and other teaching materials for teaching Portuguese language/literature and their appropriation by teachers; History of reading and writing practices experienced by teachers and their relationships with Portuguese language teaching; Educational assessment and learning in the area of Portuguese language/literature; Teaching and learning of written language and alphabetic notation in early childhood education; Learning and development of children with disabilities in early childhood and elementary education, and processes of appropriation of reading and writing by students with disabilities.
