Area of Concentration: Contemporary Education
This area focuses on the study of contemporary educational phenomena, analyzing local, regional, and global issues in various educational experiences, within the context of education and diversity. It also examines multiple aspects related to teaching, and the processes of teaching and learning in both school and non-school contexts.
This line is characterized by the study of educational experiences related to education and diversity. It includes investigations that approach, from different theoretical and methodological perspectives, topics such as gender and sexuality, ethnic-racial pluralism, rural education, indigenous education, quilombola education, popular education, aesthetics and imagination, and social and educational technologies. These studies take place both in school and non-school settings. This line focuses on new objects of study and approaches related to diversity and its emerging themes, fostering connections and dialogues with the educational experiences of traditional peoples, communities, social movements, and their political struggle agendas.

This line encompasses the production of knowledge about contemporary issues related to teaching and the processes of teaching and learning. In this sense, it articulates investigations that address, from different theoretical and methodological perspectives, topics such as curriculum policies and practices; evaluation and teacher training; teacher professionalization; teaching knowledge and practices; and the processes of teaching and learning in various areas of knowledge. This line is centered around consolidated objects of study in the field of education, offering new theoretical and methodological perspectives on teaching and the processes of teaching and learning, with openness to innovative approaches and methodologies regarding these objects of study.
