In 2001, DECart began its stricto sensu Postgraduate Program implementing a Master's Degree, approved by CAPES and entitled Geodetic Science and Geoinformation Technologies, aiming at training human resources to perform activities in public and private agencies.

 

Geodetic Sciences and Geoinformation Technologies are used in detecting and surveying data; in the treatment, processing, storage and retrieval of data and information; cartographic representation of information; and the widespread use of metrics and semantics for geospatial information.

 

1. Improvement of human resources for higher education in the field of Geodesic and Cartographic Science.

 

2. Increasing scientific research programs in the area of ¿¿Geodesic and Cartographic Sciences.

 

3. Training and adapting professionals in Geodetic Sciences and Geoinformation Technologies, adapting them to the needs of regional and national development.

 

4. Formation of an inter-institutional and multidisciplinary group in the area of ¿¿Geodesic and Cartographic Sciences.

 

5. Strengthening and disseminating the culture of Geodetic and Cartographic Sciences in Brazil, using Geoinformation Technologies.
