Programa de Pós-Graduação em Biologia Aplicada à Saúde (PPGBAS)
The Program
The Laboratório de Imunopatologia Keizo Asami (LIKA) is a Research Institute of the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), Brazil. It is the result of an international agreement between the Brazilian and Japanese Governments, signed in 1984. Keizo Asami (Dean of the Keio University) and Aggeu Magalhães Filho (Professor of the UFPE) leaded a long and successful negotiation to set up the institute in Northeast Brazil. It was founded on 23rd April 1986. Unfortunately, only a few months before, the Japanese Scientist passed away, and the UFPE paid respects naming the institute after him.
In 2010, the Brazilian Coordination of Higher Education Personnel Improvement (CAPES) approved LIKA’s Post-Graduation Program, named Biology Applied To Health (PPGBAS). It is constituted of two Degrees: Master’s in Science (MSc) and PhD. CAPES classified the program as level 5 (ranging from 1 to 7).
