LECC - Laboratorio De Ecologia Comportamento E Conservação

About

At the Ecology, Behavior and Conservation Laboratory of the Federal University of Pernambuco we develop a range of studies on neotropical vertebrates. We are currently investigating various primate species, manatees, sea turtles and reef fishes.

Our fields of research include bioacoustics, animal communication, climate change impacts and other anthropogenic disturbances on animal distribution and behaviour, and sustainability of wildlife observation tourism. Here we develop studies in captivity and the natural environment. We have field studies being carried out in the Atlantic Forest, Caatinga, Amazon, coral reefs and estuaries in Brazil.

The head of the lab is Professor Bruna Bezerra, and her team includes postdoctoral fellow João Pedro Souza-Alves, PhD, MSc and undergraduate students. The lab also has international collaborators at the University of Bristol, University of Southampton, University of Salford (United Kingdom) and University of Louisville (USA).
