  • Matrix support workshop for healthcare professionals:

A strategy to combat Congenital Zika Virus Syndrome This proposal is aimed at health professionals linked to the Family Health Support Center (NASF) and the Family Health Strategy, and residents of Family Health Residency programs or in Public Health. It is proposed to discuss with workers how the health care network is organized to meet the demands related to congenital Zika Virus syndrome through workshops which will take place in the municipalities that host the three UFPE campuses, namely: Recife , Vitória de Santo Antão and Caruaru. Approximately 30 people participate in each workshop, in which the ways of organizing the health care network for children and their families affected by congenital Zika Virus syndrome are discussed and the possibilities of articulating a line of care for this health problem. Meetings are held with the municipal health management of the three proposed municipalities to agree on the organization of the workshops. The implementing team then collectively prepares the materials to be used in the workshops and organizes registrations from the target audience. The workshops will be built based on the principles of the National Policy for Permanent Education in Health, focusing on education through work and at work.

  • Theoretical-Practical Training in coping with Congenital Zika Virus Syndrome:

training program for professionals for early stimulation PPG-FT teachers are involved in these actions, taking knowledge, the result of research that is under development, to train professionals to combat the Zika Virus. Physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, doctors, social workers and nurses participate in this action. Clarifying the proposal, here are some important data: in Pernambuco, as of April 2, 2016, 1,846 cases of microcephaly were reported, of which 303 have already been confirmed, 490 have been discarded and 1,053 are under investigation. In the city of Recife, according to the health department, as of March 19, 2016, 308 children suspected of having microcephaly had been reported, of which 47 were confirmed, 49 were discarded and the rest are under investigation. As this is a growing number, characterized by an unexpected outbreak, the state faces the need to expand and qualify the health care network. Considering: 1) that these cases are widespread throughout the state; 2) existence of a family link with the family health strategy; 3) the comprehensive care guideline; 4) the perspective that family health teams have the support of specialized professionals for monitoring and matrix support; 5) the added responsibility of IFES to offer qualification, research and continuing training from the perspective of permanent health education, justifies the implementation of this project.

  • Move Healthy:

It is based on a program of general guidelines for carrying out physical activities and measuring vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, metabolic variables (glucose) and anthropometric variables (waist circumference measurement) for the population that walks around UFRPE.

  • Cardiopulmonary and Metabolic Rehabilitation:

This is an extension project aimed at heart disease patients and obese people whose purpose is to provide treatment with aerobic, resistance and strength exercises for the respiratory muscles for these individuals, thus optimizing multidisciplinary treatment and providing an arsenal of diagnostic exams. and therapeutic monitoring with a complete approach to the cardiovascular system, such as echocardiograms, ergospirometry, myocardial beltography, among others.

  • Breathe Project: respiratory physiotherapy program for lung diseases and pulmonary rehabilitation for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD):

This project aims to develop a respiratory physiotherapeutic care program for patients with lung diseases and pulmonary rehabilitation for patients with COPD, treated at the Physiotherapy Service of Hospital das Clínicas/UFPE within the Physiotherapy discipline applied to Pulmonology, in order to ensure continuity of this treatment at the end of the practical class period of the discipline.

  • Post pulmonary rehabilitation program for elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease:

COPD is a systemic inflammatory disease, which is characterized by extra important lung problems, such as loss of muscle mass and depressive conditions, which are very prevalent in this type of pathology. In addition to medication control, the pulmonary rehabilitation program (PRP) for patients with COPD has been shown to be effective in treating dyspnea, improving the physical condition of these patients as well as their quality of life. However, one of the biggest concerns of professionals who deal with this category of patients concerns the loss of benefits arising from a physical conditioning program, when they return to their sedentary condition. Studies report that the improvement of patients with COPD who undergo PRP can be seen in the reduction in the frequency of hospital admissions, medical visits, admissions to emergency services and a reduction in morbidity and mortality rates. However, the end of the exercises implies the need to continue a conditioning program that guarantees the maintenance of these benefits, which to date have not been available to patients who have completed the PRP. Therefore, the present project aims to develop a physical exercise program that guarantees the maintenance of the benefits resulting from a previous pulmonary rehabilitation program, thus minimizing the negative repercussions of a sedentary lifestyle.

  • Improving the quality of life and physical fitness of patients treated at the oncology service at Hospital das Clínicas de Pernambuco:

This project aims to provide an improvement in the overall health of participants through a physical fitness program for the population who are/have been subject to cancer treatment. Thus, the project aims to encourage active behavior in this population following the recommendations of the American College of Sports Medicine (2014). To this end, a physical exercise program will be administered with an emphasis on cardiorespiratory and neuromuscular physical fitness, as well as exercises that enhance participants' functionality, agility, reaction time, balance and movement pattern. It is also intended to extend the project aiming for alliances with psychology, nutrition and the like, bringing links between interdisciplinary interventions aimed at improving the quality of life of people undergoing treatment or survivors of cancer.

  • Efficacy of Proprioceptive Training on Plantar Pressure, Balance, Posture and Gait in Individuals with Type II Diabetes Mellitus

The actions developed in this project are aimed at people with diabetes, as they are more likely to experience accelerated loss of muscle mass, strength and quality over time, especially in the lower limbs. Such effects of diabetes on muscle may explain why diabetic patients are at high risk of developing functional disability and mobility limitations. Therefore, interventions such as physical and proprioceptive training have been carried out as an alternative to minimize or prevent these complications. The purpose of this project is to offer proprioceptive training programs to type 2 diabetic individuals in the community as an action to promote health and prevent complications caused by diabetes. Individuals included in the project receive care through proprioceptive training that will take place on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, supervised and led by professionals and postgraduate and undergraduate students from UFPE, from the Physiotherapy course. Furthermore, the use of cardiovascular biofeedback in the control of autonomic neuropathy in individuals with type II diabetes mellitus is evaluated. 2018-03 Pibexc 2018 Notice - Scholarships and Financial Support.

  • Physiotherapeutic assistance in musculoskeletal manifestations of Chikungunya Fever

In 2016, the state of Pernambuco recorded a high rate of Chikungunya fever, with social and economic repercussions. In addition to the increase in absenteeism, negative consequences were observed on activities of daily living, leisure activities and quality of life. This situation has increased these patients' demand for specialized treatment, mainly because it is a disease that is still little known. In view of the associated rheumatic manifestations, the project aims to provide physiotherapeutic assistance to patients diagnosed with Chikungunya fever, with musculoskeletal complaints.

  • Musculoskeletal functional rehabilitation after Chikungunya fever.

The proposed program aims to establish a direct channel for guidance and monitoring of patients undergoing treatment with authorization to begin physical activities. Individualized interventions will follow a strategic plan that can be changed case by case. Counseling aims to help patients make decisions so that the adoption of new health habits occurs successfully. Additionally, the service will monitor patients individually, preventing abandonment, with techniques to prevent forgetfulness, records and adjustments to interventions. After release, patients will undergo a battery of anthropometric measurements, tests that establish functional and cardiorespiratory capacity, cognition and mood questionnaires, as well as a diagnostic interview to identify barriers, limitations and potential for practicing physical activities. Blood biochemical tests will be carried out to monitor inflammatory markers, the immune system, the glycemic and lipid profile, and the p53 protein. This process will result in references for patient guidance and benchmarks for future comparison. The physical, emotional, cognitive capabilities and access to communication resources of each patient will be established.

  • PROEDUC-REUMA: Continuing Education Project for Patients with Inflammatory and Autoimmune Rheumatic Diseases.

Target audience: patients followed at the Rheumatology outpatient clinic at HC-UFPE, diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, ankylosing spondylitis or systemic sclerosis. Description: The various rheumatic diseases have distinct pathophysiological mechanisms and clinical manifestations, but they have common characteristics of chronicity, significant morbidity and permanent disability or not in any of the three basic forms: physical, mental and social. Secondary and tertiary prevention measures for adequate diagnosis and treatment, damage limitation and rehabilitation should be emphasized. Health care strategies are shifting from physician-centered care to patient-centered care, defined as providing care that is in line with a patient's individual preferences, needs, and values, ensuring that these aspects guide clinical decisions. In this sense, the development of educational programs is justified with the aim of providing the patient with support to: acquire knowledge about the disease and symptoms, expected clinical course, treatment options and possible results; develop skills to self-manage your illness, and to participate in medical decision-making; and recognize the importance of their participation in managing the your own illness. (Protocol 261096.1384.253174.16082017).

  • REUMA - TO

Target audience: Patients from the rheumatology clinic registered at the HC – UFPE rheumatology outpatient clinic. Description: People with rheumatic diseases commonly experience joint pain, limited movement and consequently difficulties in carrying out daily work and leisure activities. Given the specific needs of each case, monitoring by an interdisciplinary team is necessary. The occupational therapist, being part of this team, aims to carry out activities independently and protected. Its objectives include controlling pain, maintaining range of motion, strengthening muscles, preventing deformity, carrying out special programs using principles of joint protection and energy conservation. To this end, the use of assistive technologies, functional activities, establishment of a new routine and health education are used as strategies. Thus, the relevance of such care for the rehabilitation and quality of life of these people can be seen. However, access to this type of service is lacking. This project aims to offer assistance to patients with rheumatic diseases, through occupational therapy, individually (with a focus on indicating and creating assistive technology resources) and in groups, carrying out studies and discussing cases, which will enable the qualification of student training in this area, the opening of the field for research, as well as the expansion of access to this type of service, which makes the relationship between research, teaching and extension clear.
