Resumo:
The acceleration of materials discovery requires advanced scientific measurement and simulation methods which are enabled by scalable information technology. The combination of physical science and platform computing is key for designing applications to be used at larger scale. In this seminar, I will provide an overview of our team’s research activities involving the development of scientific prototype tools that are based on physical and chemical data acquisition and analysis. One example is a paper-based microfluidic sensor that enables real-time, on-location, chemical analysis of a soil or water sample, using artificial intelligence. Another example is a cloud-computing based digital rock simulator for optimizing fluid recovery and analyzing carbon dioxide separation, conversion, and storage. These demonstrations open a potential route for increasing sustainability.
