A mission from Canadian Foundation Energi Simulation carried out a schedule of visits to the UFPE, yesterday (7) and on Monday (6), with the objective of assessing the Industrial Chair in oil reservoir Simulation at the University. Yesterday morning (7), the Group met with the Rector Anísio; the head of the Directorate of International Relations, Maria Leonor Maia; and professors involved with the projects sponsored by the Foundation.

The Energi Simulation mission was composed by Duke Anderson, president, Andrew Seto, vice-president for technology and Victor Salazar, represeting CMG Ltd, the software developer company associated with the Foundation also based in Calgary, Canada.

"Almost ten years ago, we received a grant from the Canadian Energi Simulation Foundation. Each year, this Foundation visits UFPE to meet with professors that hold this Chair and the companies that support the project. The Chair funds, mainly, scholarships for students in the field of petroleum engineering. The idea is to train people, requiring companies to participate, so it's an industrial Chair. The goal is to be a leveraging Chair, where resources promote other partnerships, such as the one we have currently with Petrobras, which also supports us in this Chair and was present during the visit, "explained professor Leonardo Guimarães, of the Department of Civil Engineering.

Anísio Brasileiro took the opportunity to thank the Chair and highlight the University internationalization policy and the investment made for the implementation of the Integrated Laboratory of Technologies in Oil and Gas (Litpeg), whose opening is scheduled for December.

"It is a great honor for us to hold this Chair, especially for the academic and economic impact that it brings to the region, the State and, consequently, to the University," said the Rector. In addition to meeting yesterday (7), the Energi Simulation Chair's visit schedule featured meetings and visits to the Center of Technology and Geosciences and Litpeg building.
