PPGGBM Self-Assessment - 2021-2024 Quadrennium

The Graduate Program conducted two self-assessments for the 2021–2024 Quadrennium.

The first self-assessment was developed and carried out by the Self-Assessment Committee in April/May 2023 and was completed by 100% of the faculty and 90% of the students enrolled during that period. It was used to guide the design of the 2023–2024 Strategic Plan. The self-assessment form included 71 questions across 15 different sections for students, and 68 questions across 17 different sections for faculty. It addressed, among other topics, the following: Courses and Infrastructure; Faculty and Advisors; Graduate Studies Office (PROPG), Secretariat, and PPGGBM Coordination; PPGGBM Website; UFPE Central Library; Infrastructure of Laboratories Associated with PPGGBM; Wi-Fi Service, Internet Network, and Access to Information; Formation of National and International Research Networks; Partnerships with Faculty from the Same Institution; Quality and Quantity of the Program’s Scientific Output; Innovation Potential, Social Engagement, and Outreach; Integration with Undergraduate and Basic Education; and PPGGBM’s Support for Community Engagement. The questions were in multiple-choice format, with space for suggestions and a general evaluation.

The second self-assessment was conducted in February 2025 and was answered by 100% of the faculty, students, and postdoctoral researchers, as well as some technical staff affiliated with PPGGBM. The model suggested by the Coordination of the Biological Sciences I Area of CAPES was used, including 15 questions from four different sections. Both self-assessments were used in the development of the 2025–2028 Strategic Plan.
