MEC and MRE receive applications from international students interested in pursuing bachelor degrees in Brazil through the PEC program

Registration is open until August 23rd for the Programa de Estudantes-Convênio de Graduação (PEC-G) and Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PEC-PLE) programs, jointly administered by the Higher Education Secretariat of the Ministry of Education (SESu/MEC) and by the Educational Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DCE/MRE), are modalities of the Student-Agreement Program (PEC) aimed at the training and qualification of foreign students through the offer of free places in face-to-face undergraduate courses and Portuguese language in Brazilian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Registration for the PEC-G and PEC-PLE 2024 Selection Process (admission in 2025) is free and must be carried out at a Brazilian diplomatic or consular representation in a country that is participating in this call.

 

You can register for the PEC-G and PEC-PLE Selection Process 2024 process (admission in 2025) if you:

a) do not have, on the date of registration, dual Brazilian nationality or the right to Brazilian nationality;

b) are a national of a country participating in the PEC call, residing abroad and do not hold any type of visa or residence permit for Brazil, except a tourist visa;

c) are at least 18 years old by January 1, 2025;

d) present the Term(s) of Financial Responsibility signed by the financial responsible(s) that guarantee(s) the funding of your expenses in Brazil throughout the entire study period;

e) sign the Term of Commitment committing to comply with the Program’s rules;

f) prove completion of a level equivalent to high school, in a country other than Brazil;

g) in the case of a candidate who wishes to apply exclusively to the PEC-G for admission to an undergraduate course in 2025, present, by the date stipulated in the calendar of this selection process, the Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese Language for Foreigners (Celpe-Bras), or Intermediate level certificate in a Portuguese language course taught by a unit within the Instituto Guimarães Rosa (IGR) network.

 

The preliminary result, as well as the list of remaining vacancies and any waiting list for the PEC-G and PEC-PLE Selection Process 2024 (Admission in 2025), will be published from October 25, 2024. The entire selection process is carried out directly by the Ministries.
